What is UXUI design?
We’ve all overheard conversations, chatter amongst the world’s tech capitals, discussions about the great ‘UX’ of a product, or the poor ‘UI’ of a website. It is not a secret language or an insiders club. And explaining in technical terms what is UXUI design can be complex and complicated. I find it easier to explain it with a visual. These are the UXUI steps I take with a project.
For me User Experience Design is a multitude of tasks focused on optimization of a product for effective and enjoyable use. User Interface Design is its compliment, the look and feel, the presentation and interactivity of a product.
Through my entire UX process I like to apply Jakob Neilsons 10 heuristics for User Interface Design. This approach includes a detailed analysis of a product that highlights good and bad practices, using known interaction design principles as guidelines. This helps me visualize the current state of the product in terms of usability, efficiency, and effectiveness of the user experience.
